Desktop tooling at a research and technology organisation working in materials, corrosion and structural integrity.
The work
TWI is a Cambridge research and technology organisation whose members are industrial companies with engineering problems - welding and joining, corrosion, structural integrity.
The software was the tooling those engineers used, including enterprise modifications for individual members, and a body of VB6 that needed bringing forward.
What I was responsible for
- Desktop tool development, and modernising VB6 codebases that were still in service
- Enterprise changes for member organisations, working with the client on their specification and confirming the output was what they wanted
- Project leadership for the final year
